Gluten-free restaurant review: Marcella's
Review By: Kimberly Bouldin
Cameron Mitchell restaurants are well versed in handling the gluten-free diet. The restaurants either have a printed gluten-free menu or are more than happy to prepare something on the menu gluten-free.
Upon entering Marcella's last night, I asked if they had a gluten-free menu. I was informed that they didn't have a printed gluten-free menu, but would be happy to go over the menu with me and they did have gluten-free pasta available. This is the only restaurant in Columbus that I am aware of that serves gluten-free pasta. The pasta is penne style and is also soy-free.
For an appetizer, we ordered the prosciutto & melon. I had never tried this combination before and it was amazing. The melon was extremely flavorful & fresh and the prosciutto was the perfect pairing.
I ordred a chopped salad. The salad had mixed greens, cucumbers, carrots, grape tomaotes, gorgonzola cheese & was topped with a house vinaigrette that was just perfect.
I had a hard time deciding what to order. There were so many options to choose from. I finally decided on the Seafood Risotto. The Seafood Risotto has lobster, shrimp, white wine, tomatoes, and parmesan reggiano. There were plenty of large, succulent pieces of shrimp & lobster in this amazing dish. The risotto was just perfect. One of the top dishes I have eaten since going gluten-free.
For dessert options, there are several different flavors of gelato available, including pistachio & chocolate. I was too full for dessert, unfortunately. Marcella's is definitely a place that I will be visiting again and gets an A+++++ in my book. Thank you for having such wonderful options available to those that have to follow the gluten-free diet.
